Aris
"face the bloodless dawn, child of none."
beloved prodigal child of Bhaal seeking godhood for themselves, lost their memory and their strength and given a blank slate. making the best of their second chance by rejecting the paths set for them and setting new dreams instead, valuing personal agency more than anything, and willing to fight the gods themselves for it. Chosen of Jergal for tax purposes that slowly turned into a genuine following and they're grumpy about it.

when they rejected bhaal, withers named aris as his chosen. aris tried to refuse, disavowing of the gods entirely, but he wouldn't accept it. he was a nearly dead god who had willingly given up his own power; he had no need for worship, but it was a way to mark himself as their advocate. they settled into an uneasy rhythm, acting as if nothing had changed. but when it was just the two of them, aris would call him by his true name
after the absolute was destroyed, aris spends a lot of time struggling on what to do next. the game suggests that a redeemer dark urge would spend the time researching their heritage and speaking to scholars about it, but aris already knows too deeply what they are, and wouldn't feel right to try and pretend that they were anything but the monster that they are, like they weren't complicit in their depravity. instead, they eventually decide to dedicate their time to discovering and recording all the lives they killed in their father's name. they explain to jergal that it helps them feel like they bring some closure to both themselves and those they killed and reminds them to keep trying to do better and look forwards, and he agrees and listens to them share. and one day, they look up and realize just how truly they have become his chosen.
